Edu Hidalgo

Edu Hidalgo was born in Valdivia (Badajoz) and breathes flamenco almost from the same cradle. His paternal grandfather had sung, his father sings and his brother, Niño de Valdivia, is dedicated to cante. Edu starts listening to Antonio Mairena, José Menese, Calixto Sánchez and Tomás Pavón and begins to train as a singer.
In 2004 he comes to Seville to study. He obtains the title of Telecommunications Engineer and continues singing. His first public performance is with his brother in the Flamenco Association "Los Remedios", in Casas de Don Pedro (Badajoz). Then, from 2009, among other peñas and festivals, he sang at the Juan Talega Festival of Dos Hermanas.
In 2010 he participates at the XI Certamen de Cante por Soleares "Naranjito de Triana" and won the first prize, which also means a scholarship to continue the cante studies at the Cristina Heeren Foundation. There he studies, among others, with Calixto Sánchez, Arcángel and Paco Taranto. Last October he joined the cast of the show "¡Viva el Café Cantante!", with which he participated in the 1st Alternative Flamenco Festival of Seville.
In April 2015 he won the first prize of the III Provincial Contest of Cante Flamenco.
Today he is a full-fledged cantaor with extensive knowledge of the whole flamenco palos.
