Оnline conference "Contemporary flamenco"

November 12 at 5:00 pm (to Moscow): free online conference "Contemporary flamenco" with Susana Zellinger, flamenco expert from the German magazine "Tanz" and member of the jury (Zoom). Registration
"The avantgarde are people who don't exactly know where they want to go, but are the first to get there." Romain Gary, French writer and director (1914 - 1980)
After the vertiginous development of contemporary flamenco dance in the last 30 years, sometimes we wonder how it happened. Why do we see Rocío Molina naked on stage? Why do the male dancers wear skirts or roll around the dance floor? What do the Goldberg Variations do in a flamenco concert? Answering these questions is the theme of this conference.
Susanne Zellinger (Linz, 1958) studied Romance languages at the University of Graz. In 1996 she moved to Seville, Spain, where, among other things, she took courses in flamenco dance and opened the famous bar "Alfalfa 10" in the centre of Seville. Back in Austria, she taught classes being specialized in Spanish culture. She worked as a cultural critic for the Austrian newspaper "OÖN" and as editor of the German flamenco magazine "Anda". As a journalist, she writes on flamenco topics for different dance magazines and websites. In 2020 she published the first yearbook of flamenco and Spanish culture "Flamenco divino".
She teaches classes at universities and various prestigious flamenco festivals, paying special attention to contemporary flamenco.
